What should I call myself as an advocate for Strong Towns?

member submitted question

I am considering starting a local news letter/blog type thing for my local community and was wanting to make sure it was ok if I used “an affectionate with strong towns”? Get back to me when you can.

Great to hear from you! I first want to say that I love your interest in starting up something in your community - that's 100% the type of thing that we get really excited about because we want to see local change be sparked at the grassroots level and that will often happen through local content. I had that experience in my own community when I began writing onthefenceinladner.ca but I let it slide and need to get back to it.

We're also launching a Strong Towns Local Creators program to encourage the type of thing you're describing - look for emails about that in the coming months

In terms of your question, I'm not sure what you mean by "an affectionate"... did you mean an advocate?

In place of "with Strong Towns", could I suggest an advocate for Strong Towns or a Strong Towns advocate?

In general we wouldn't encourage someone to say they are 'with' Strong Towns because the Strong Towns movement is something that you're a part of and therefore it fits to say "for Strong Towns" or "Strong Towns advocate" or "a member of Strong Towns" or a "local advocate following the Strong Towns approach" or a "member of the Strong Towns movement" - there's lots of options :)

I hope that helps - please send me a link to what you start with - I'd be happy to follow along and add you to our blogroll

And here's an older but helpful resource:
