The National Capital Commission in Canada has released a set of guidelines to shape the discussion about public space design. The guide is well-illustrated and serves as an outline of people-oriented design.
National Capital Commission Design Guidelines
As the Guide explains,
These guidelines are a reference tool for the NCC, its partners and proponents of projects requiring federal design approval. Their purpose is to inspire and direct designers and decision makers, and to facilitate the evaluation and approval of design proposals. They are intended to facilitate dialogue
and to create a common understanding and reference point for the elaboration and evaluation of physical designs.
