"Imagining a Walkable America" is a free online book that features over 50 photo simulations of sustainable urbanism I’ve created over the years across North America.

The images show the differences between the brutality of a built landscape designed predominately for social separation and vehicle speed compared to the same landscapes reconfigured for human needs.

The images were done collaborating with some of America’s best urban designers and transportation planners.

The author modified over two thirds of the images to reflect the accelerating growth of electric, multimodal mobility and how that can fit within safe, equitable built landscapes:

"Friends, you are in for a special treat when you open the pages of this inspirational digital book. Next to walking audits, there is nothing as powerful as Steve in our work. Nothing."
