Deepen the Connection

As we approach Member Week (November 10–14, 2025), we’re asking every Local Conversation leader to help strengthen the link between what’s happening in your community and what’s happening across the broader Strong Towns movement.

Member Week is a time to celebrate the people behind this movement — members like you who are leading the work of change where they live. It’s also a moment to invite others to join, to make sure that our growing network of Strong Citizens has the resources, relationships, and guidance they need to keep building momentum.

“Local Conversations are where the Strong Towns approach comes to life. Membership connects what’s happening in community after community to the broader movement.”

Why Membership Matters

Membership isn’t just about financial support. It’s about connection, participation, and shared ownership of a movement that’s redefining what it means to build strong communities.

When someone becomes a member, they’re not simply donating to an organization — they’re declaring that they believe in a better way to grow, invest, and care for their place. Every contribution, large or small, helps sustain the resources, events, and support systems that make Local Conversations possible.

How Local Leaders Can Help During Member Week

  1. Get Set Up
Claim your distinct membership page link to track your impact. Visit our link requester and submit your request and we'll get it sent to you and together we can see how many new members join via that link.

  2. Share the Message.
Talk with your Local Conversation group about why you joined Strong Towns and what membership means to you. A personal story from a trusted local leader is the most powerful invitation anyone can receive.

  3. Encourage Participation.
Ask members of your group to visit your group's custom membership link and become members themselves. Remind them that there’s no minimum amount required — even $1 is a statement of support and belief in this mission.

  4. Celebrate Together.
Use Member Week as a time to highlight local wins. Share examples of how Strong Towns ideas are being applied in your community, and post them on social media with #StrongTownsMemberWeek.

  5. Host a Conversation.
Dedicate one of your upcoming meetings to talk about the movement’s future. Ask: What resources have been most helpful? What new tools or support could strengthen our local work? Send those ideas our way — Member Week is the perfect time to shape what comes next.

Member Week is about recognizing that this movement is built by thousands of people who care deeply about the places they call home. When each of us contributes what we can — time, ideas, and yes, dollars — we create the foundation for something that lasts.

Let’s use this week to grow the movement, deepen our connections, and make sure every Local Conversation feels equipped and supported to lead change in their own backyard.
